Lunch…12.30 Tournament… 15.00
Picture the scene… it’s a brisk, chilly but sunny Autumnal Day and the cordite from last night’s fireworks is mingling with the smells of roasting meats and wood-smoke from the roaring fire. You’ve done all your chores, and maybe taken a walk with the dog through crunchy leaves and are now looking forward to a good lunch and an afternoon of fine entertainment with friends, old and new. Yes, it can only be the Annual White Hart Poker Tournament, this year in aid of the Dementia Ward at Ipswich Hospital. “But I don’t play poker” we hear you cry. Fret not, my lovelies; not many of our participants can! Luckily, our accomplished dealers guide you through every bit of the way, and you will be amazed how effectively you can bluff when you have no idea what you are doing. In fact, at least half of those walking away with the £100 cash prize over the past few years have been absolute beginners.
Sounds like fun? You have two choices; join us for a slap-up lunch from 12.30 at the bargain price of £20 for two courses or £23 for three (price includes entry to the tournament) or just come along around 2.30p.m. and pay £8 to enter. All your entry money goes to the charity as we are lucky enough to have all the prizes donated by friends and sponsors. If you want to go the whole hog with your support, buy lots of raffle tickets and donate a prize too.
We always try to keep our choice of charity local and this one was suggested by a regular who, as a Consultant at Ipswich Hospital, sees first-hand how investment in equipment to help those with dementia leads to a rapid improvement in their – and their friends and loved ones – lives. In previous years we have raised upwards of £1,200 – enough to really make a difference.
SO… PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Book your place at the bar, or email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call us on 01473 890312 or send a pigeon or do whatever it is you do but come along.
