… and where better to celebrate than your local pub? You can find out what’s happening here – xmas-opening-hours-2016 – but, as it’s a Saturday night, Christmas Eve by Candlelight will morph into a Christmas Knees Up to dance our way into Christmas Day (carriages at 12.30 though as we don’t want to spoil things). As ever, show off your Christmas Jumper or Hat or Scarf or Socks in the pub from 12.00 – 2.30 p.m. on Christmas Day… mince pies and sausage rolls on the bar in case anyone is feeling hungry. If the weather is clement we will have our communal dog walk on Tuesday 27th , leaving the pub at 11.00 a.m. then our usual Quiz for Brains Addled by too much Sherry is on Wednesday 28th, directly after happy hour. Book in your team now! New Year’s Eve is a Saturday too and we will have a good old night down the pub with – hopefully – some live music, dancing, lots of drinking and bacon sarnies for the lingerers. No ticket necessary, but if you want to have supper, let us know. If you are planning on coming to eat then here is our Christmas Menu – christmas-midweek-menu-2016. Have a look and pre-order when you book if you don’t want to linger in front of the fire with a glass of something lovely.
Happy Christmas, lovelies.
So the run up to Christmas has started and we have our celebratory menus for your amusement and delectation. The first is for those in a hurry who want a quickish lunch – christmas-rapide-2016– and the second a more lingering affair for those who want to write off the afternoon or sup into the night – christmas-2016. We can also tailor to suit your needs – it might be a company Christmas party where little more is required than home-made sausage rolls and turkey baps to soak up the beer to a more lavish dinner where we add in a cheese course and some fine port. Whatever you fancy, you can be sure to have fun and enjoy yourself here at The White Hart… we like to party!
It seems to have come around very quickly for all of you who remember her fiftieth, but your esteemed landlady/chief cook and bottle washer is going to be 60 years old on Saturday 19th November 2016. So, to celebrate, The White Hart is inviting friends and customers to join us for “Pizza and Prosecco” on Friday 18th November ’16 from 6.00 p.m. Whilst we will probably continue until her actual birthday at midnight, it is very much a “drop in and stay as long or as little as you can” event so please do come along and say happy birthday.
On Saturday 19th November, the pub is closed for a private party and on Sunday 20th, the lovely Kelly Fevearyear – fabulous cook and cake maker – takes over the reins in the kitchen. There will be a choice of two roast meats, with all the trimmings, and we know it will be delicious. Service is from 12.30 till 3.00 p.m. and we stay open for drinks until 6.00 p.m. If anyone wants to carry on, some very old friends of ours are playing at the John Peel Arts Centre in Stowmarket ending the weekend with some techno that is Jesus Jones. On Monday we are closed as ever…. and Tuesday we start to gear up for Christmas. Watch this Space.
Halloween falls on a Monday this year, a day when we rest, so we are having a pre-celebration on Saturday 29th October with lots of Orange and Black decorations… and Orange and Black food. The menu is very silly, but will eat well, and can be viewed here…menu-halloween-2016… Food is served from 6 p.m.till 9 p.m. as usual and booking is always advisable. For the little ones there will be trick or treats available…
And anyone wearing orange and/or black, there will be a little thank you for entering into the spirit…
Time is flying by and our community lunch this month features apples, mushrooms and autumnal vegetables… see here for the menu – community-lunch-menu-october-2016.
Remember it is open to anyone who lives in Otley and the surrounding villages and we love seeing young and old alike. It’s what living in a village community is all about…
It is always good to let us know you are coming – 01473 890312. The Pub opens at midday and lunch is served at 12.30. We usually finish between 2.00 and 2.30 p.m.
See you there…
A reminder it is our community lunch coming up – remember it is open to all who live in Otley and the surrounding villages and a way of people getting to know each other. We are trying to help overcome some of the isolation living in the countryside can bring, particularly for those who are on their own all day. So young Mums, their kiddies, people who work from home, retirees, Uncle Tom Cobbly and all are welcome.
Here is this month’s menu. Phone us on 01473 890312 to book – where else can you get a great two course lunch for a fiver?
… and it looks like it’s going to be a hot one! On Friday, as usual, we are serving our infamous Pizzas – ideal to soak up those TGIF beers. On Saturday it is business as usual but we are adopting the mantle of a famous London Chain and serving specials of Lobster and Burgers. Unlike them we are serving other things too, but we are quite busy already so please book if you want to come along. Ditto Sunday as the Beer Garden is reserved for a Private Party – we are open till Dusk on Sunday evening but food service ends at 3.00 p.m. On Monday we are exceptionally open, and serving a Brunch from 11.30 till 3.00. We then wind down and close after the last person leaves. What a lovely end to a fabulous summer….
This Saturday, 2nd July 2016, the pub will be closed at the Helmingham Road site, but open on the Otley Village Playing Field. Come along from Midday for a lovely selection of light lunches – the bar will be open too, so you can wash down your Ploughman’s Lunch with a fine pin of Ale, or enjoy a glass of wine with your Cesaer Salad…
The Fete itself runs from 2.00 p.m. until 4.00 p.m. during which time you can have the traditional tea and cake, or a cream tea or a full blown afternoon tea…with a glass of fizzy if you want.
The Pop-Up pops back to the Pub for evening service at 5.30 p.m. but Otley Fest will carry on with a host of bands and musicians for your delectation and delight.
We look forward to seeing you there….
For more details please call Lynda at the pub on 01473 890312.
So, yes, you could let Dad barbecue at home, standing out in the rain on his own, under an umbrella… and then do all the clearing up and cleaning down and running around… or you could bring him to the pub and enjoy a slap up meal with lots of proper beer served at the right temperature… and no washing up! Here’s the menu, we start serving food at about midday and finish around 3… after that it’s drinking time!
fathers day lunch 16
Children under 5 eat free, under 7’s are a fiver each and under 12’s half price.
Come on, book a table now. He loves it down the pub…
Another Bank Holiday so once again we are opening for Brunch on the Monday – hopefully to be served in the beer garden looking out over sunny fields. On Friday night is it Pizza as usual and, for Saturday night’s themed supper, we are taking inspiration from the fact that the Spring Bank Holiday heralds the start of summer. We’re thinking sea, sand, salty air, the smell of tanned skin and burning meat… So it’s “Surf and Turf” all the way. Please, please pre-book and check the menu – Surf and Turf – as there are some dishes that need to be pre-ordered.
Now can someone tell Mother Nature?!?
