What a summer we are having- the harvest mostly done and dusted by the beginning of August and temperatures that are more likely in the South of France. It will all come to an end, but to cheer us up, we are having a weekend of fun and frolicking on from Friday 31st August until Sunday 2nd September, after which you have to don the uniforms and be sensible again. And it’s all in aid of Charity!
On Friday 31st August, Otley’s very own Blues Guitarist and Singer/Songwriter CLARE FREE will be performing live and – weather permitting – we will be doing our own special version of a barbecue. Entry is free, but please donate generously to St Elizabeth Hospice, our charity this weekend. There will be lots of collection boxes.
All weekend, we will be running a prize draw with the winners announced at 6.00 p.m. on Sunday evening. Please feel free to donate a prize… and buy tickets!
In response to repeated demand, on Saturday 1st September, we are holding a Quiz, but it’s a bit different to our usual ones. Teams of no more than six please, entry is £10 which includes a sharing platter on the table when you arrive and a one pot meal of either a layered Salad “Mole”, a Chilli Con Carne with Rice or a Chicken and Mushroom Stroganoff on top of jacket potato, to be served in the interval. For any one not wanting to eat, the entry price is £5. 00. All profits from the Quiz go to St Elizabeth Hospice, to be donated into the trust fund in memory of our good friend, mother and sister, Susan Spencer.
And on Sunday, we are hoping to participate the “A Walk with a Fork” being held on the Helmingham Estate, in aid of Ormiston Families. Watch this space for more news.
