Happy New Year of the Dog!

Yes folks, it’s an auspicious one for the Hart, and all its four legged friends…within the Chinese Zodiac, the Dog is a true companion, associated with loyalty, honesty, intelligence, and a strong sense of right and wrong. Well, we’d agree with that… you should see Ava’s face is another dog gets a biscuit and she doesn’t. These qualities will pervade events this year which may mean people rallying together to fight for a common cause, whether via national politics or just local community work and random acts of kindness. Could we request the latter? Beer and politics are not great bedfellows.

So – for this Friday 16th February and this Friday alone – we are not cooking Pizza but present for your delectation and delight, a random selection of dishes from a few of the countries celebrating today.

Starting, as we ought, with China, we have Tom Yum Soup with Prawns – a clear, hot sour broth with mushrooms and beansprouts £6 starter £10 mains
Onto Singapore for some King Prawn and Coconut Laksa – a creamy, spicy soup with rice noodles and vegetables £6 starter £10 main
Next stop Malaysia where we find Chicken Rendang with turmeric rice – a deep, rich, glossy dish that’s quite spicy!
Dashing to the Philippines for Pork and Pineapple Adobo – a slow cooked sweet and sour stew served with sticky rice £9
Back to Korea and a Friday Burger – 8 oz of prime beef seasoned with garlic and coriander and served with Kimchi Slaw and fries £12.5
Still on a meaty theme in Thailand, “Weeping Tiger” – a 10oz sirloin steal marinated in thai spices, served with pickled vegetables and chips £16
Ending our journey in Vietnam with a stir fry of Chicken, Basil with a dash of chilli, served with sticky rice £10

There are some non-Asian specials on the blackboard too… may the Dog be your best friend.
